About Nancy

A lifetime dedicated to public education — and four years of it on the Murrieta school board.

Nancy Young is running for the Murrieta School Board because she believes a strong public education system is the foundation of a successful community and a healthy democracy. Public schools are one of the few places where children from all backgrounds come together to learn, grow, and prepare for their future.

Public education is deeply personal to Nancy. Her grandparents, parents, children, and she herself were all educated in public schools. Inspired by the opportunities public education provides, she devoted more than 35 years of her life to teaching at the high school level. Today, she continues serving students and educators through the county office of education, where she mentors new foreign language teachers.

Nancy’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in French and German with a minor in Business Administration, and master’s degrees in French and in Curriculum and Instruction. Her years living, studying, and working in five European countries give her a broad understanding of different cultures and perspectives — an asset in serving a diverse student community. As the daughter of a naval aviator, she also understands the unique challenges military children face, and is committed to ensuring every child who enters a Murrieta classroom feels valued and supported.

For the past four years, Nancy has served on the MVUSD Board of Education, where her priorities are clear: supporting all students, partnering with parents, respecting and empowering educators and staff, and preserving Murrieta’s reputation as a high-performing school district. She supports expanding Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities so students graduate prepared for success — whether they choose a university, technical training, military service, or entering the workforce.

With a lifetime of experience in public education and a commitment to serving all children, Nancy Young would be honored to earn your vote for the Murrieta School Board.

A letter from Nancy

“I’ve spent my whole life in classrooms like your child’s. I know what a good school feels like from the inside — and I know what it takes to keep one. That’s the work I’d be honored to keep doing for Murrieta.”
